The Oregon Professional Development System has two foundational frameworks:

The Core Body of Knowledge is the basis for the training and education essential for on-going professional development in the childhood care and education profession.
Childhood care and education Professionals will use the Core Body of Knowledge as a guide to:
- Appreciate the depth and breadth of the knowledge required to work in the field
- Select community-based training
- Create a professional development plan to acquire the core body of knowledge
- Acquire knowledge appropriate to their level of professional development
- Take steps to move to the desired Steps on the Oregon Registry
Oregon Registry Steps
The Oregon Registry Steps are the sequence from Enrollment through Step 12 in the Oregon Registry. Each step represents increased training and education in the Core Body of Knowledge. Professionals use the Oregon Registry Steps to help determine the levels of their training and education.
